M Arch and M Plan are master’s level courses in the field of Planning and Architecture. Both are popular postgraduate degree options after B Arch and B.Tech in Civil Engineering.

Given below are the basic differences between M Arch and M Plan courses:

M Plan

The M Arch curriculum equips students with construction and technical knowledge, designing and drafting skills along with a comprehensive understanding of theories and concepts of architecture.

The M.Plan curriculum equips students with the skills required for planning urban and regional spaces,  environmental planning and other related fields.

The M Arch programme includes theoretical and practical subjects.

The M.Plan programme involves theoretical, practical and research-based subjects.

The final-year candidates have to submit a project.

The final-year students have to submit a project as well as a thesis.

The Architect is the main career option available to M Arch students.

Urban Planner is the main career option available to M Plan students.
