If you are talking about IIT programmes or programmes offered by some reputed universities, M Tech is generally a course/credit based programme wherein the student pursues a certain number of PG level courses apart from project work as to complete within 24 months. MS or M.Sc (Engineering) is generally a research based programme wherein the scholars enrolled for the same are expected to invest more time in research activity.
