What is the difference between MBA and MBA PGDM? Does XLRI, Jamshedpur provide MBA course?

MBA is a masters degree (higher qualification respect to graduation), PGDM (Post graduate diploma in management) is only a diploma course, not a degree where as MBA is a degree. MBA is provided by universities and institutes with affiliations of AICTE, DEB, UGC ( University grant commission). X

Hi Prannay, MBA is offered by 'Universities' or 'Colleges that are affiliated to Universities' or central body directly under the Indian Government while PGDM is offered by individual colleges such as IIM's. XLRI, Jamshedpur provide PGDM course.

The main reason why postgraduate courses are named as PGDM is that when an institute is an autonomous body (not affiliated to any university) and conducts management courses, then such institutes cannot offer MBA degree. Even IIMs, XLRI's doesn't offer MBA degrees; they only give PGP Diploma. I hope

MBA is offered by a university but PGDM is offered by a college (autonomous college).

XLRI provides post graduate Diploma in management. The difference you can figure out on your own. However, with regards to industry recognition, it makes no difference.
