Technically there is not much difference between PGDM and MBA. PGDM is awarded by colleges approved by AICTE and MBA is offered by Universities approved by UGC. PGDM is equivalent to MBA if it is approved by AIU. U can do PHD after MBA

The main reason why postgraduate courses are named as PGDM is because when an Institute is an autonomous body (meaning it is not affiliated to any University) and conducts management courses then such Institutes cannot offer MBA degree. Even IIMs, XLRIs doesnt offer MBA degrees they only give PGP Diploma or PGDM since they are autonomous and independent bodies.
institutes affiliated to any universities van offer MBA .
yes ,you can go for PhD after pgdm because it is AICTE approved.

You can go for PhD after PGDM, provided your PGDM is equivalent to MBA as regulated and approved by AIU.

A Masters in Business Administration (MBA) is a degree course offered by the colleges affiliated to the universities while the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a diploma course offered by the institutes that are recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
Both are equivalent. And IIM'S also gives PGDM not MBA degree.
Yes you can do Phd after PGDM if itd AICTE approved and AIU equivalent.

    weather its PGDBM or MBA.
MBA its two years Masters course provided by University, which is valid across globe , you can also go for Phd after pursuing MBA.
PGDBM its an certification course provided by Institute . After pursuing PGDBM you cant go for further education. also some companies are not validating PGDBM.
