MMS is masters in management studies and another nomenclature for MBA programme. Somebody has provided incorrect information. In abroad, the system is to call a degree as a graduate programme and an undergraduate programme. in countries like USA, Canada and Australia, usually the degree is of 4

MMS, as in, Masters in Management Studies, is a program offered by Mumbai University. It is equivalent to an MBA program. MBA, as in, Masters in Business Administration, is offered by universities

Yes MMS is equally valid as MBA, in many universities including top universities like Mumbai University is having MMS and not offering MBA.
From my international experience, MMS from an authorised universities are very much valid and considered as good as MBA in all over international
