IITs are autonomous central government institutes of international repute with best faculties, facilities and infrastructure for engineering education. NITs, also centrally funded, were formerly Regional Engineering Colleges and rank just below IITs in terms of prestige and placements. In India IITs

It is difficult to predict cut off scores for JEE Mains. JEE Advanced is required for admission in IITs.
