What is the difference between normal engineering and sandwich engineering?

Normal enginering is of 4 years whereas sandwich engineering is of 4.5 to 5 years. In normal enginnering your primary focus is on academic theory whereas in sandwich engineering your focus is on industrial practice as well. Industrial training is mandatory in sandwich engineering.
