They primarily perform eye exams to assess vision, prescribe corrective lenses (glasses or contact lenses), diagnose certain eye conditions, and provide non-surgical treatments for common eye problems like astigmatism, nearsightedness, farsightedness, and presbyopia.
On the other hand, Ophthalmic technologists or technicians are specialised professionals who assist ophthalmologists (medical doctors specializing in eye care) in diagnosing and treating eye-related conditions.
