What is the difference between PG Diploma and Master's degree courses offered by Canadain universities?

Hi,
PG Diploma is professional course, its more applied while Masters degree are theoretical and research oriented. MS admissions in Canada arr also very competitive and most international applicants don't get through. The admission requirements also differ.
