What is the difference between PGDBM and MBA?

The one is Diploma and another one is degree, in India both are equivalent. Abroad, MBA is superior degree.

MMS/MBA- MBA or MMS are Master’s degree provided by Government Universities and their Affiliated institutes. Some Institutes providing MBA/MMS are (FMS) Faculty of Management Studies- Delhi University, PUMBA - Savitribai Phule Pune University, Jamnalal Baja Institute of Management studies (JBIMS) - Mumbai University. Affiliated universities JBIMS and PUNE have been granted Autonomous status by the University by which they get to customize the Curriculum and Fees. Exams are conducted by University. Cons- Syllabus is set by the University, and hence not very updated, changes are done every 3-5 years. More Theoretical approach in teaching. Pros- Fees is lower as compared to PGDM. In case you plan to work in a foreign country a Master’s Degree will be preferred. PGDM A Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a diploma course offered by the institutes that are recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and which are autonomous and not linked to any Government University. Institutes like IIMs, XLRI, Great lakes, and S.P. Jain etc. provide Post Graduate Diploma in Management. Pros- Syllabuses are updated as the institutes design their own curriculum. Option to choose from various specialized courses such as PGDM in Pharmaceutical Management, Biotechnology Management, Digital Marketing, Healthcare Management, Retail management, International business, Business Analytics, etc. More practical teaching approach in learning as compared to MMS, which builds skills before you enter the Corporate. Cons- Many Institutes have high fees. You need to be careful about the Accreditation of the institute. Similarity- Scholarships available in both courses. Some Institutes like Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management, SIES College of Management Studies, and K.J. Somaiya Institute of management studies Provide MMS as well as their own PGDM program. Points to note: There are many Colleges providing MMS and PGDM but their ranking should be considered as the Brand Value and the Ranking of the Institute makes a difference. Final verdict: MMS and PGDM are different, you must decide according to your preferences.
