What is the difference between PGDM and MBA in sports management? What kind of jobs will be offered in this steam?
Currently, I am pursuing BA (H) in economics but after this, I am planning to go into sports management as I am very passionate about sports like cricket, badminton, etc.
Dear Sahitya, In terms of curriculum, while an MBA/MS is a post-graduate degree, a PGDM is a Diploma. What this means is that only a university can award a degree (MBA/MS) and not any other institutions. Top B-Schools in India like IIMs, SP Jain, etc., offer a PGDM and not MBA because they are not universities. This does not mean that the PGDM is not valued. It only means that you might not be able to use this PGDM as a Masters level qualification if you want to pursue a Ph.D abroad. Once you cleared this, MBA (or PGDM) in sports management, you can be hired by sports academy, sports club, sports media, etc. Hope this helps. Good luck.

See, during placements and in practice, there is not so much difference, PGDM is autonomous, need AICTE affiliation for every academic year, the cost is higher (it is autonomous). MBA is UGC recognised university programme, less costly. PIBM is decent but you need to do some research by yourself to get the exact picture of now or you can have a better option How to research to know both sides of the coin? 1) Choose your stream first in case of MBA/PGDM job (sales/hr/financial product sales/core finance). 2) Make a Linkedin profile to chat with alumni to check after placement job sustainability and average take-home salary of your favourite
