What is the difference between PGDM and MBA?

The difference between a Post Graduate Diploma and Degree will be evident from the expansion of the abbreviations. For higher education opportunities, an MBA will be advisable though PGDM may be considered equivalent in some sectors.

PGDM stands for post graduate diploma in management, while an MBA is a master's degree in business administration. MBA degrees are offered by institutes affiliated to universities and PGDM is offered by autonomous institutes such as the IIMs. I was concerned about this as well, but I've learnt that

PGDM programs are offered by private B Schools many of them approved by AICTE and some not approved. Many have a combination of approved and unapproved programs making it difficult to select. MBA programs are offered by Universities and are recognised across the world.
