    While an MBA course tends to be more theoretical, a PGDM focuses on the technical aspects, providing exposure to real-life business situations. Also, a PGDM isvery different than a one year PGP offered by many private institutes all across India. I hope this will help you.

    PGDM stands for Post-Graduation Diploma in Management, it is a short-term course of around one-year while MBA stands for Masters in Business Administration, which is of 2 years.

    Susceptible to Fraudulence
    Since PGP or PGDM courses are offered by autonomous bodies, students need to be careful while taking admission. Many smaller colleges and institutes make claims or do not have proper accreditation status. MBA degrees are conferred by varsities, and hence there's a lower chance of fraudulent claims.
    Focus
    Both MBA and PGDM courses have common core subjects. However, some experts claim most MBA courses focus more on theoretical and technical aspects of management rather than adopting a practical approach. PGP or PGDM courses have an industrial orientation and focus on skills based on market requirements.

    PGDM is awarded only by an autonomous deemed institution, MBA is awarded by a university.

    The university will award you the degree in case of MBA. The MBA course structure is changed once in 7-8 years generally while the PGDM course curriculum is changed and modified yearly.

    PGDM is offered by all the Indian Institutes of Management (Iims) and other top B-Schools such as XLRI Jamshedpur and SP Jain Mumbai offer PGP or PGDM courses. Most of these institutes are autonomous bodies (not affiliated to any University) and conducts their own management course. MBA is offered by institutes affiliated to universities. PGDM course is designed by individual institutes, whereas MBA course is designed by University. Both MBA and PGDM courses have common core subjects.
