What is the difference between Polytechnic and computer engineering?

Polytechnic is an AICTE approved 3 years Diploma course with state technical council authorisation which gives the basic and initial concepts of engineering with so many practical classes along with theory classes. One can apply for B.Tech or BE after that directly into 2nd year by lateral entry and also can change department for few streams. Like for civil they can choose architecture also. You can admit in polytechnic through entrance or in few private colleges management quota. Engineering is a 4 years Under Graduate course also with AICTE approval and with state technical council authorisation. It gives technical knowledge with depth and a better concept of engineering. Computer Engineering is just a branch of Engineering.

Polytechnic are institutes in India to provide entry level education below graduation degree in the field of engineering, technology, Applied Science, natural sciences and other fields. For example Polytechnics in India offer 3 years Diploma in Engineering branches after 10th class. It is a skill based educational qualification which has more practical training. Diploma holders of Engineering are able to get jobs in supervisory level jobs in manufacturing and services industry. Engineering Colleges are institutes in India to provide graduation and post graduation degrees in the field of engineering and technology. B.Tech Computer Engineering is a four years degree course after 10+2 with PCM subjects. Engineering are able to get jobs in entry level engineering job in manufacturing and services industry. Diploma holder take 10 or more years experience to reach to engineering entry level job or posts where graduate degree in engineering is the eligibility criteria.
