    Dear student, A lawyer is a generic term and applies to a person who has received formal training in law at an undergraduate level and after having passed the requisite State examinations for admission as legal practitioner is entitled to practice law in that State. The areas of practice could be general or specialist, in which case additional qualifying examinations would be required. A prosecutor refers to any person who initiates a court action to take another party to court for the purpose of seeking appropriate punishment for committing a crime.
