What is the difference between summer internship and project study?

In summer internship you will get a chance to be with different companies where you get a lot of exposure by working with them and in project study you have to choose a one project according to your interest which are given to you by a college faculty and make a report on it after doing a detail study. -
You will get a lot of projects during your trimesters, so you will get a real life experience throughout the year and summer internships is the part of your curriculum which is compulsory during month of April-May.
