The Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is basically a professional certification awarded by the IIA. The CIA course is meant for internal auditors to teach them about internal audit practices, internal controls, risk management, etc. You can complete the program in 1 to 2 years where you have to pass three CIA exam sections, meet the experience requirements and adhere to the IIA’s standards. The CIA program duration usually differs on the basis of individual pace of study and commitment.
