Completing the Occupational English Test (OET) usually takes three hours and fifteen minutes. The exam consists of four subtests: speaking, writing, listening, and reading. Each subtest is intended to evaluate a distinct facet of language competency in a healthcare setting. It takes about 50 minutes to complete the Listening subtest, 60 minutes to complete the Reading portion, 45 minutes to complete the Writing portion, and roughly 20 minutes to complete the Speaking portion. While the other components are often done in a written or computer-based format, the Speaking examination is administered in-person with an OET examiner. Althou

The duration of Occupational English Test is 2 hours 45 minutes. It is divided between different sections of exam. Below, we have mentioned sub-section wise break up of duration. Speaking test can be scheduled on a different day from the other three sub-tests.

    OET Exam PatternTest Duration
    Listening45 minutes
    Reading60 minutes
    Writing40 minutes
    Speaking20 minutes
  • Aspirants looking to appear for the exam should be aware that the test is divided into four sections, i.e. Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Candidates are required to complete each subtest within the stipulated section time. Candidates should keep the entire day aside to complete their OET. The exam does not occupy your entire day, however, candidates are advised to not schedule any other planned activity throughout the day. This way applicants will be able to focus clearly only on the exam and will not be in a hustle to go for other planned activities for the day so that they do not get distracted.

Yes, there are several countries like Australia, UK, and Canada that accept the OET score for visa and immigration. Especially for healthcare roles in their country.

Popular nations include New Zealand, Ireland, the UAE, and the USA, where your score on the OET exam is accepted. Scores typically required are Grade B (350+) in all sections for most visa and licensing bodies

Unfortunately, if your internet connection disconnects, the exam platform will attempt to reconnect.

If it connects instantly, then no issues. If it extends, then your test will be terminated immediately. It means you may have to rebook and pay the fee again.

So, make sure you use reliable broadband, and backup plans are essential for OET at Home.

Yes, you can change your OET test slot booking. But remember that the slot changes are subject to availability. If the slot is not available on your selected date, then you can not make changes.

Also, you may be required to pay an additional fee. The process is simple and online. You can request changes via your myOET account online. Read the OET rescheduling policy and charges before making changes.

The slot booking process for OET at Home is almost the same as for centre based tests.

Just make sure you have all the set up requirements at your home, if you selec the “OET@Home” format. Also remember, there will be no discount in the fee for booking the home test.

OET releases the exam date for the entire year at once. You can select your preferred date (When you think you should take the test). Remember, OET slots fill up quickly, especially in major Indian cities. However, you can get another one after one or two days, too.

Still, it is advisable to book at least 2–3 months in advance to secure your desired date and centre. Early booking helps avoid last-minute unavailability or the need to travel long distances for the test.
