To qualify for the B.E./B.Tech programme offered by MLR Institute of Technology, candidates must pass their 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects. The admission process includes qualifying an entrance exam, namely the TS EAMCET or JEE Main, whose cutoffs are cleared for the student. In addition, these students must fulfill the domicile requirements for state quota seats if applicable. However, the criterion for admission is purely based on academic merit and competitive exam performance to uphold that standard level of eligibility for aspiring students.

To be eligible for B.E./B.Tech at MLR Institute of Technology, you must have passed the 10+2 exam with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (or Biology with a Mathematics bridge course). Additionally, you must qualify in the TS-EAMCET (Engineering and Medical Common Entrance Test) conducted by the Telangana government. 70% of the B.Tech seats are filled based on TS-EAMCET ranks, while the remaining seats are reserved for Management and NRI quotas. Diploma holders can also apply for lateral entry to the second year of B.Tech based on ECET scores.

For admission to B.E./B.Tech at MLR Institute candidates have to pass 10+2 examination with 45 % marks in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry for general and 40% for the SC/ST candidates. TS EAMCET is major mode of admission, in which candidates need to secure a rank in exam to avail admission. This is because a few seats are reserved through management quota to fill up the institutes capacity. Seating allotment during counseling is based on the TS EAMCET ranks.
