What is the eligibility criteria for getting admission in a public university in Germany? What is the fee structure and living expense?

Public universities in Germany are one of the most sought-after choices for students due to their attractive hands-on and practical courses and almost zero tuition fees for the duration - UG or PG. The eligibility criteria for admission to top public universities like TU Munchen or Berlin or Heidelberg university is good educational background up till class 12th and one year of UG in India/IITJEE or JEE Advance score card. This is because the schooling system of Germany equalizes 13 (12+1) years of schooling in India. Along with that, you need basic proficiency in german for your Visa clearance and you need to open an account and block around 10,000 euros in it. Coming onto the fee structure - most public universities in Germany are free and you just need to pay the semester ticket fees which range between 150-300 euros and for that you get a travel pass using which you can travel across the country in any public transport. For living expenses - this is where most of your budget will be used. Just like any other country, if you're living in a normal city like Berlin you'll be spending anywhere around 600 to 1000 euros according to your standard of living. Cities like Munich are a bit expensive and your spending might go from 800-1200 euros a month. Important advice - The UG courses in Germany are mostly in the german language while PG courses are available in the English language. Before choosing any course, check with the institution's website the language your course is offered in.
