NIOS requires students at the Secondary level to have passed at least Class 8, and be of 14 years of age. They can also submit a self-certificate stating that they have studied enough to pursue the Secondary certificate. Students who have partially or fully completed their Class 10th degrees from other boards can also enroll for the Secondary level to improve their grades or complete their course. Students at the Secondary level need to take a minimum of 5 subjects, including at least one language, and no more than 2 languages. They can take a maximum of 7 subjects.
