To be eligible for GATE, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Age limit: There is no age limit for GATE.
- Educational qualification: Candidates must have completed their Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology or Master's degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Computer Applications/Statistics from a recognised University.
- Minimum marks: Candidates must have secured at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwD) in their qualifying degree.
- Eligibility for paper: Candidates must have studied the required subjects in their qualifying degree, as specified in the GATE paper they are applying for.
