Educational qualification:
Indian Military Academy/Officers' Training Academy: The candidates must possess a degree from a recognised university or equivalent.
Indian Naval Academy: The candidates must possess a Bachelor of Engineering degree.
Air Force Academy: The candidates must possess a degree of a recognised university with Physics and Mathematics at Class 12 level or Bachelor of Engineering.
Graduates with first choice as Army/Navy/Air Force are required to submit a proof of graduation provisional certificates on the date of commencement of the SSB interview at the SSB.

Candidates in the final year of their graduation can also apply provided they do not have any backlog at the application. According to CDS eligibility criteria 2020, candidates applying for the exam must be 20 to 24 years. Candidates who have passed graduation or appearing for their final year are eligible to apply for CDS exam provided they submit a relevant certificate of passing the examination at the time of commencement of course.
