10+2 with PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) is the basic requirement to take admission in engineering programme. Percentage required in qualifying exam is 60% and JEE Mains for most of the engineering institutes. However required percentage criteria depend on college. IITs consider JEE Advance. There are several entrance exams in India at national and state level among them JEE Main is the most sought after engineering entrance test. Some private institutes like BITS Pilani, VIT, LPU University etc. Conduct their separate entrance test. Top colleges are: DTU, BITS
