I am from economics (Arts) background and currently working as Account Assistant.

Hi,
Yes you can go ahead to become a Chartered Accountant. This self study program can be pursued after Class 10+2 or graduation.
On passing Class 10 examination students may register for Common Proficiency Test ,which is held in Common Proficiency Test examinations are held in June & December eve

As you completed your Graduation your eligible to join directly Inter [IPCC] Group 1.
