To be eligible for an APTET certificate, you need to fulfill two main criteria:
- Pass the APTET Exam: APTET is conducted for two categories:
- Paper 1: This paper is for candidates seeking to teach classes from 1 to 5.
- Paper 2: This paper is for candidates seeking to teach classes from 6 to 8.
- You must possess the minimum educational qualification required for the specific category and paper you're applying for.

Candidates who qualify the APTET exam by obtaining the minimum qualifying marks are issued with the eligibility Certificate. Candidates clearing the APTET exam will be eligible to apply for recruitment as teachers for Classes 1 to 8 in Andhra Pradesh state. It may be noted that APTET scores are given 20 per cent weightage and Teacher Recruitment Test (TRT) scores are given 80 per cent weightage in the recruitment process.
