What is the history of LPU?

Hope you like the story behind this brand name. Lets start their story from their word of mouth. Baldev Raj Mittal, father of the LPU founder stared Lovely Sweets in 1961 which later became a brand name in Jalandhar. He started his business with 'Lovely Sweet Shop' in Jalandhar cantonment's Sadar Bazaar and later went on to become the founder of 'Lovely Group'. Lovely Professional University is founded and run by the same group and hence the name. Started, to be precise, with Lovely Sweet Shop in Jalandhar cantonments Sadar Bazaar. The brainchild of Baldev Raj Mittal, a small-time military contractor, it began life in 1961 as a modest hole-in-the-wall operation. But there was nothing modest about Baldevs ambitions. A boy of 16 at Independence, he helped his father run a small canteen for jawans in an infantry battalion at Sialkot in West Punjab, and moved with the battalion to Ferozepur after Partition. Watching thousands of refugees rebuilding their lives, restless Baldev wanted to reinvent himself too. But his family, which had been forced to flee the harshness of rural Rajasthan not so long ago, was loath to help. A loan of Rs 500 from the commanding officer of the battalion gave Baldev his lucky break. Soon, Lovely Sweets was up and runningthe first proper sweet shop in these partsand dispensing laddoos from 5 to 7 pm every day. The university was established in 2005 by Lovely International Trust, under The Lovely Professional University ACT 2005 (Punjab ACT 25 of 2005) and started operation in 2006. With over 30000 students, it claims to be the largest single-campus private university in India. It ranks No.1 in North India and offers over 150+ Courses under 40+ Disciplines. Lovely Professional University is one of the best private universities offering Bachelors, Masters, Certificate and doctoral degrees in various fields. It is situated in Phagwara in the Punjab state of India. Established in 2006, it is accredited by UGC, BCI, PCI, AIU, Council of Architecture (COA), NCTE, IAP, ICAR and it is affiliated to Lovely Professional University. LPU, Phagwara offers 418 courses across 18 streams namely Engineering, Management, Design, Paramedical, IT, Commerce & Banking, Hotel Management, Physical Education, Arts, Performing Arts, Science, Law, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Education, Media & Mass Communication, Vocational, Medical and across 10 degrees like B.Tech.
