The two sections of the pituitary gland produce a number of different hormones which act on different target glands or cells.
Anterior pituitary
Adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH)
Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH)
Luteinising hormone (LH)
Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)
Prolactin (PRL)
