The University of Northern British Columbia sets rigorous English Proficiency requirements to ensure academic excellence and effective communication to ensure academic excellence for both UG and PG courses. UG applicants must have a minimum IELTS score of 6.5, a TOEFL iBT score of 90 or higher, with a writing sub score of 20 or more. Students can also submit a Duolingo English Test score of 105 or above. These requirements are also applicable to engineering courses. Graduate students must achieve a minimum IELTS score if 6.5, a TOEFL iBT score of 92 or higher. Below is the table for ELP’s

Section 4 is considered the most challenging compared to the former sections regarding scoring well in the IELTS Listening module. The monologue is a discussion based on an academic subject. To score well in this part, practice with educational material, pay attention to the complex concepts and take notes.
The audio recordings are not repeated during the IELTS Listening test. During the exam, each audio will only be played once, so paying attention throughout is very important.
Candidates can either opt for IELTS or PTE for studying in Canada.
