To obtain a respectable branch at AMU, students must meet two separate cutoffs: internal (having completed their 12th grade from the AMU board) and external (not having completed their 12th grade from AMU). The cutoff for external students is approximately 55–50, while the cutoff for internal students is approximately 40–45.
On November 21, 1938, the Zakir Husain College of Engineering & Technology was founded in honour of Dr. Zakir Husain, a distinguished AMU academic and former Indian President. Aligarh Muslim University in Aligarh is associated with it. The college has both NBA approval and AICTE accreditation.
