    Hello, two sets of words are bandied about during the admission process of any course in India. One is "cut off" and the other is "Closing Rank"! One must understand the significance and difference between these two. 

            Normally cutoff is assigned or declared when there is a huge mismatch between availability of seats and demand for these seats.
