    After completing MD the latest rule for Senior Residency (SR) completion may vary depending on the institution, specialisation, and the guidelines issued by the respective regulatory bodies. However, as per the recent guidelines issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI), which is now replaced by the National Medical Commission (NMC), the duration of Senior Residency varies from one year to three years, depending on the specialty. For instance, in clinical disciplines like Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Surgery, the duration of Senior Residency is three years.
