Develop an eye for the ludicrous and incongruous. Discover the fun and humor in men and events around you. Find a way to express them through your brush. Study the art of the maestros like Shankar, PCL, Laxman, Kutty. See how they can discover the humor out of the dull and the mundane.

Good drawing skills are necessary. Freehand, geometric, perspectives and life sketching should be a common FEAT for a cartoonist. As for qualities, they depend according to the place you work in. The cartoons should be clear in message and the characters should be distinguishable.
