In India, maximum salary given to a normal college pass out mechanical engineer is INR. 4 lac pa. -
The average package is Rs. 3.5 - Rs.17 lacs per annum. All the things depend on your knowledge and personality.

As a fresh graduate, you will get approximately 4-8 lacs per annum if you go for core companies for mechanical like Maruti Suzuki, Honda, TATA or GM. But if you go for FMCG and non core companies like P&G, Future's first, ZS Associates, Deloitte, etc. packages may vary from 4-20 lacs.
The package will largely depend on your college.
