Candidates must have passed a Class 12 pass from a recognised board in the Science stream with at least five subjects and a minimum of 75% aggregate (65% for candidates from reserved categories) or be in the top 20 percentile in the Class 12 exams administered by the relevant boards in order to be eligible for admission to the B Tech programme at NIT Rourkela. In 14 specialisations, the institute provides BTech programmes. BTech programmes in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer Science and engineering, etc. are a few of these specialisations. To get admission to BTech at NIT Rourkela, candidates must secure a minimum of 75% aggregate scores in the last qualfying exams of Class 12. Further, admission to B.Tech courses at National Institute of Technology, Rourkela is based on the JEE Main score. The centralised counselling process is managed and regulated by Joint Seat Allocation Authority JoSAA based on which the seat allotment is carried out. The seat allotment is based on the cutoff released by NIT Rourkela and a candidate's preference for courses and colleges. Further, the remaining vacant seats are filled through CSAB counselling.
