what is the mode of preparation of IIT examinations?

I'm a school student of 9th std. I posted this question because I want to go in that line. And if i got the satisfied answer I can start preparing it early to be more successful.

(1) Focus on your 9th and 10th Maths and Science (2) In eleventh you should start preparing for IIT focusing in Physics, Chemistry and Maths subjects (3) You can also join coaching classses (in 11th or 12th), if required.
