What is the need of SET in the teaching career as B.Ed is needed for higher secondary teaching? Then why is there a need of SET?

Good evening dear,
The question would have not arised if you had known the difference between teacher and Lecturer. B.Ed is for School teachers whereas SET or NET is to be cleared in order to pursue Doctorate Degree and to for a career of Professor. Thanks and all the best.
