Panjab University follows the seat reservation policy for the BCom programme as per the Government norms as mentioned below:

Category	% of Seats Reserved
General Category	53.5%
SC	15%
ST	7.5%
Backward Classes/ Persons or class of Persons with Disability (PwD)/ Sports Category/ Defence category candidates	5% for each category
Sons/ Grandsons/ Daughters/ Granddaughters/ Husband / Wife / Brothers / Sisters of persons killed/ incapacitated in Nov 1984 riots and of persons killed/ incapacitated in Terrorist Violence in Punjab and Chandigarh	2%
Children/ Grandchildren of Freedom Fighters who have been sanctioned pension by the Central/ State Government or awarded Tamra Patra by the Government of India or who have been certified to be freedom fighters by the Centre/ State Governments.	2%
