    Hydrogen is a typical element which shows both the characteristics of alkali metals as well Halogens. These days in some new books it is seen that it is kept in the upper and middle of the periodic table. If there is an option of that position u should go wit that or else in general its considered in as the first element of group 1.

    Hydrogen is placed above alkali metals in the periodic table. It's atomic no. is 1 and lies in the top most extreme left.
