    The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) is a common admission test for students seeking admission to undergraduate programmes of all IITs and ISM Dhanbad. To be eligible to write JEE Advanced the candidates have to first appear in the JEE Main conducted by JEE Apex Board, in the month of April.

    The admissions in Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), National Institute of Technology (NITs), and government. Funded Technological Institutions (GFTIs) are based on ranks obtained in JEE Advanced JEE Main and JEE Main respectively. JEE Main is the first entrance exam conducted twice in an year (In January and April every year). The ranks of JEE Main entrance exam are considered for admission in NITs and GFTIs. While ranks obtained in JEE Advanced are considered for admissions in IITs. JEE Advanced entrance exam is conducted among the qualifiers of JEE Main exam in the month of May every year.
