Hi Thapar University BE and B.Tech admissions are based on a candidate's valid score in JEE Main along with the marks secured in Class 12 examination. The merit list prepared by the University for B.Tech admission also include the marks secured in Physics Chemistry and Maths during Class 12 examination. Applicants are required to fill application form one time only and on the basis of single application form, they can seek admission through any mode, subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria. 50% of the total BE/B.Tech seats shall be filled on the basis of percentile based merit of JEE Main.

Yes. Thapar Institute is a well-reputed institute and it's a good choice to pursue an engineering degree. However, I would recommend you to go either for Civil, Chemical, or electrical (instrumentation) engineering at Thapar as these are more focused, and with better curriculum to provide better learning and in-depth knowledge to students. Admissions are open.
