Admissions to various academic programmes are organized on all India basis through Vels Entrance Exam - VEE 2017 (for Professional courses), on 06 May 2017. Last Date to Apply: 29 April 2017 Preparation of Rank list and checking eligibility (Departments concerned) Medical Examinations (Maritime Studies) Provisional selection based on the basis of merit (as per Central Govt. reservation norms) irrespective of region, caste, creed or sex.
For the all the Professional courses, admissions are based on marks scored in entrance examination and qualifying examinations.

At the undergraduate level, VELS University offers three to four-year B.Tech courses to students in various specialisations. Admission to various courses is based on merit and entrance exam scores. The eligibility criteria for various undergraduate courses including the B.Tech course is 45% to 60%. The deemed university accepts the scores of VEE. The seats are limited for the students, hence apply early for timely admission.

Here is the eligibility criteria for marine engineering:
* To pursue a B.Tech in marine engineering, a candidate must have cleared 10+2 or any equivalent examination from a recognised board or university under the science stream with compulsory subjects physics, chemistry and maths.
* The minimum cut-off is 50% in most institutes.
* Clearing an entrance exam is mandatory in order to get into most marine engineering institutes.
* Candidates who have completed a Diploma in any stream of Engineering (Marine, Mechanical and Electrical) with 55-60% in final year can join the B.Tech course from the 2nd year as part of the Lateral Entry scheme....more
