Yes, you can. It will give you a lot of pay but you should forget your family for a minimum of 6-months. If you are not homesick, go for it.

This Engineering branch has been designed to train candidates become Marine Engineers on Merchant Navy ships. At the end of the course, successful candidates are awarded the Class 4 Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency. This certificate is awarded by the Ministry of Shipping, India. Please note that this certificate is provided only after a candidate completes 6 months of sea service.
10+2 Science stream schooling is required. Also, subjects pursued while in school should be- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Minimum aggregate marks required in PCM subjects- 60%. Minimum marks in English subject- 50%.
