I very much agree with you and would love to see a school where students are led to discover their individual passions and talents, rather than being discouraged from learning, but I fear that it is a blindly optimistic philosophy. Purpose of education differ from person to person it may be for employment, it may be for personality development , it may be for morale development , it may be for mental development , it may be for personality development, it may be for overall development and there are so many other purpose of ed

Some of our great saints say that the purpose of education is to build character. It remains to be analysed that if it is so why should students learn different subjects than spending time on a few character building exercises.

Getting a job is primary. You also would improve yourself, from all angles, once you get educated. It increases your range and your horizons.You would get more cultured.
