The SC candidate will have chance to get in some top IIT, then the general category student plus in the low ranked IIT with non core branch. SC candidate can also grab the general students seats if they're vacant.

    Hello
With SC rank, you just have a better opportunity to get admission into same college where you could not have through your general rank. Only this much.
    Good luck.

There is a concept of seat reservation for SC, ST in such colleges. So, if you are one of them and score equally to a general category student, you will have a better rank and a very good chance of getting a good branch in a good college.

There is no difference in All India Rank. If SC and General both get 110 marks in JEE Mains, then both of them have approximately 60000 AIR RANK according to previous year. But, there is a term called Category rank, in which there are some fixed seats for SC or others.

SC students will have an extra rank list in addition to Common Rank List. In terms of rank cut-off, ranks needs to be way better for the General students. It was done to bring the SC students and their societies to mainstream. So a CRL seat can be claimed by both SC and Unreserved but SC students get set via SC list too, meaning more opportunities.
