    The Government of India, the Maharaja of Mysore, and Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata worked together to establish the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in 1909. Among Bangalore, India's best public university is the Indian Institute of Science. According to the QS World University Rankings 2024, it is placed at #225 and the QS WUR Ranking by subject it is number #45. However, the QS Sustainability Ranking is #=505. The Asian University Ranking is #4.
