What is the scope for B.Sc in agriculture?

Lots of Government as well as Private job opportunities are present in front of Graduates. Talking about Government jobs, State Agriculture Departments recruits Graduates to fill up Officer level posts. Government Banks also recruits Graduates to fill up Officer level posts (generally dealing with Loans). Talking about Private Sector jobs, graduates may find jobs as Managers at Plantations, as Officers at Fertilizer Manufacturing firms, Agriculture Machinery Industries, Agricultural Products Marketing firms, Food processing units etc.

Hi, Graduates with B.Sc. Agriculture are readily accepted in the government projects. Agricultural departments, Extension services, Research organizations, Commercial farming etc. Are some of the sectors where graduates of this field can find job opportunities in. At private Sector jobs, graduates may find jobs as Managers at Plantations, as Officers at Fertilizer Manufacturing firms, Agriculture Machinery Industries, Agricultural Products Marketing firms, Food processing units etc. Thanks!

Dear Kunal, Jobs can be got by students of B.Sc. Agriculture with firms of the private or public sectors. With public sector firms, one can get employed as Agricultural Research Scientist (ARS). But to get employed into this position, it will be needed for applicants to write an admission test. Job opportunities are also available for applicants as teachers. They can write the ARS-NET exam and get employed with colleges as lecturers. Jobs are also available for aspirants as Agriculture Development Officers (ADO) or as Block Development Officers. A few other areas where employment is offered to students of B.Sc. Horticulture encompass banks, Dairy consultancies, insurance companies and the animal industry. There is an immense scope of agriculture graduates in private sector, the jobs are increasing day by day due to larger demand for food products and their processing, there are jobs like Managers at Plantations Biochemist Environmental Engineer Bioinformatics Scientist Agronomy Sales Manager Agricultural Engineer Food Scientist Animal Geneticist Agricultural Operations Manage Officers at Fertilizer Manufacturing firms Managers at Agriculture Machinery Industries Agricultural Products Marketing firms Food processing units etc. Agro industries Agriculture Marketing Financial sector with focus on agriculture Micro-finance institutions Fertilizer companies Agri-biotech organizations Agricultural business managers Agricultural equipment salespeople Agriculture inspectors Animal control officers Agricultural managers It is imperative that the qualification must be done from top institutions link LPU which actually have the syllabi and required accreditation from ICAR. There are plenty of government as well as private sector jobs available for B.Sc Agriculture graduates. They can be appointed as Research Officer, Quality Assurance Officer, Agriculture Officer, Agriculture Loan Officer (in Banks), Production Manager, Operations Manager and Farm Manager with State agriculture departments. In the private sector, agriculture science graduates may find jobs as managers at plantations, as officers at fertilizer manufacturing firms, agriculture machinery industries, agricultural products marketing firms, food processing units, etc. The average starting salary of these officers is generally between Rs. 5 to 6 LPA (including incentive). And as you gain years and experience, the scope for better remuneration is immense. After doing B.Sc Agriculture, one may also move from agriculture and take up a teaching job, or even go for Ph.D and build a career in agricultural research. Best wishes.

B.Sc Agriculture is a good course with good placement opportunities, as you can be employed by any private or government firm or you can start your own work or even you can start your career as a lecturer by pursuing M.Sc in agriculture. There are a lot of government opportunities available for the B.Sc in agriculture graduates. So, it has very good scope.
