What is the scope for fashion designing in India & abroad and what would be the best startup for it as I am in 12th now?

I'm a 12th PCM student having a dream to become a fashion designer. My scores in 10th were 90%.

Fashion Design has now become an established career option in India, thanks to the various NIFTs and other Institutes that offer this undergraduate degree. India is a growing economy with a young population and that means that the numbers of a fashion conscious consumer are only going to increase. This assures of certain growth of the industry as well. That said, be clear in how you look at Fashion. If you are looking at 'Fashion' as is commonly understood, you are looking at celebrity designers like Manish Malhotra etc. And at Haute Couture. The glamorous industry of fashion is equally attractive both in India and abroad. After pursuing necessary design education, fashion enthusiasts are exposed to a vast array of opportunities in and around India based on their area of expertise. Certainly every region has its own fashion ethics and a distinct panache, which determine how professionals work with different styles in different countries. Irrespective of the country one is in, life of a fashion designer revolves around illustrations, drapes, fabrics, embellishments, and trends; hence the essence of fashion remains same. Statistically put, Indian fashion industry has just rolled over infancy and is projected to have a growth of 10%-15% in the coming years according toIndian, India Travel, Indian Food, Indian Culture, Indian Arts, India News, Indian Recipes, Industry. Speaking internationally, a report by McKinsey & Company declares major cities like London, Paris and New York as matured fashion hubs whereas cities like Beijing and Moscow are emerging fashion centres, unveiling significant growth prospects. Designers can choose to work with existing fashion brands and labels or set up one of their own. They can become a part of fashion houses or work with wholesalers, merchants, retailers, and trend forecasters. If choosing to pursue fashion styling they can be employed with magazines, newspapers, models/actors, photographers etc. As a visual merchandiser they can work with department Stores, malls, museums, galleries, airports, and hotels; the opportunities are manifold. Interestingly, Indian mirror says, in India nearly 81% people have become fashion conscious below the age of 45 and cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune have great fashion prospects. So possibilities can endlessly be explored within the country as well. However, people aspiring to work on an international platform must develop valuable contacts and study design from a global perspective while on their way to becoming a designer. Alternatively, instead of settling down in one, a fashion enthusiast can travel to various countries and cities to gauge their varied styles and work globally. Good luck!
