What is the scope for MBA in information technology?

MBA IT is a sector specific MBA with majority of job opportunities in IT or ITES sector only. MBA IT graduates are hired for presales support or business analysis role in these industries. Based on experience these graduates can grow in roles of Sales & Marketing, Account Management, Project / Program Management or leadership roles. Currently Indian IT industry has started showing early sign of decline, therefore, job opportunities are reducing. Also MBA IT graduates compete with generic MBA graduate of prestigious B-Schools for jobs in IT or ITES companies. Unless you only want to work in only IT or ITES sector, you are advised to do Generic MBA.

IT Managers have huge opportunities to work in the IT domain of any big company or directly in technology firms. Indian IT giants like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies, etc. , hire MBA in IT graduates from top Indian B-Schools for business development roles and offer an attractive entry-level salary. Foreign companies like Accenture, Capgemini, SAP, HP, Cognizant, etc. , also recruit MBA in IT graduates. The role of the IT Manager includes planning, strategizing and implementing new software and IT projects.
