It is a combination of art and science. It has a great scope. You can get a specialisation in any category of photography because there are many subtypes of it. Like wedding photographer, wildlife photographer, jewellery photographer, etc. The person having a degree or a skill of photography are hired or called for which they are paid good. At the start, you may get less amount of money but as you will gain experience, you will be paid high.
